In early January 2025, Johnston posted her eight point list on LinkedIn, written from the perspective of a rancher, of what an AgTech company needs to offer to succeed in 2025.
Here is our evaluation of Flokk against Johnston’s list.

- Good, solid networks and being a trusted partner: Yes. We invest our marketing efforts at auction marts, industry events, and producer meetings, not on X and Facebook.
- Understand that “social license to operate” is really something to consider: Yes. Clearing the path for ranchers to ensure traceability, and advance sustainability, is the foundation of our industry’s, our customers, and Flokk’s success. Flokk is the only digital traceability/sustainability solution provider holding membership in the CRSB. We advocate for, and are laying the technical foundation for, authoritative assertion of animal ownership without physical alteration.
- Do one of four things: save producers time, save producers money, make producers money, or solve a major pain point: Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Flokk eliminates redundant manual transcription of herd events, reduces the cost to comply with traceability regulation, avoids penalties for non-compliance with traceability regulation, eliminates personnel dedicated to data collection during animal operations, maintains the records necessary to receive the cash incentives for CRSB certified production, lays the foundation for sale of emission offset credits, and ensures herd records are immune to loss.
