Smart Paddock delivers affordable animal location tracking

We have always been impressed with Smart Paddock, and had a chance to see the product demonstrated, and have an in-depth discussion with their founder Darren Wolchyn, at AgSmart this July.

Smart Paddock avoids the cost and usability issues that come with animal tracking solutions reliant on terrestrial cellular, which makes European systems generally unusable in Canada due to our much higher cost, and much poorer coverage, relative to European countries.

Smart Paddock uses LoraWAN connectivity, allowing the rancher to set up their own communications infrastructure and avoid ongoing communication services fees.

We remain actively engaged with Smart Paddock, and hope to work with them on an Alberta trial early in 2025.
